I recently tried Primal Queen as a perimenopausal woman.
I was very impressed because they have a 4.6 rating out of 5 stars out of over 25,000 reviews.
What makes it different?
I bought this product long before I ever had an affiliate link for it, so I hope that helps to quell any concerns.
I have had my fair share of freeze dried grass-fed beef supplements and I think it’s truly one of the healthiest supplements out there.
However, Primal Queen is made specifically with women in mind, and not all beef organ supplements are. The parts of the freeze dried grass-fed beef organs are reproductive organs like ovaries and fallopian tubes, and uterus. It also includes beef liver, heart, and kidney for more overall body wellness and support.
What I love about all grass-fed organ supplements is something called “like for like,” and it shows up in old folk medicine and in a few old philosophies about the body. The thinking goes that the parts of an animal resemble the parts of ours, so eating one might feed the matching part in you. Eat a heart, support your heart. Eat the brain, feed your brain. It’s a neat idea.
Haven’t you heard your great grandmother telling you to eat your liver and onions because it repairs your liver? Well, mine did. And it’s true, to an extent. And so many women in our 30s, 40s, and 50s deal with peri and postmenopausal issues with hormones fluctuating, hot flashes, energy dips, and low sex drive, not to mention in our modernized diet everything is ultra processed and we are naturally pretty low in vitamins and nutrients. It can also help women postpartum.
What are the benefits?
Here’s where the science actually lands. Liver is one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can eat. It’s loaded with vitamin A, B12, iron, and folate. Those nutrients matter for energy, blood, and overall health. But your body doesn’t route a bite of liver straight to your liver and say “here, fix that.” It digests the food and pulls out what it needs, the same way it does with a steak or a salad.
So eating liver isn’t a magic repair kit for your liver. It’s a way to get real nutrients that your body can use. That’s still a win, especially if you’re short on iron or B vitamins and don’t love the taste of beef organs like myself. Plenty of people use liver supplements or freeze-dried organ capsules for exactly that reason. I also like that it is grass-fed beef from Argentina’s cattle that are pasture raised.
Primal Queen’s Grass-Fed Beef Organs provide numerous B vitamins, especially B12, which is essential for energy, and B6, alongside iron and zinc. Liver is also known for Vitamin A and K naturally, as well as copper and magnesium. A lot of women are low in selenium which comes from the kidney and this supplement provides that as well. Beef organs also provide the heme form of iron and choline. Heart is a great resource for CoQ10.
This is a woman owned brand and I fully support them in the support for the health and wellness of women. They also have weight management supplements, creatine bites, and a marrow supplement for healthier joints.
The real lesson isn’t that your organs are trading secrets with the food you eat. It’s that nutrient-rich food does real work for your body, and you have to feed it consistently to see results. Think of it as a foundation, not a cure. It supports and can help fill in the gaps from what may be missing from the modern western day diet.
It is not a cure for liver disease or outrunning a diagnosis like fatty liver disease or anything like that, and there are no claims for that. That would require medical care. But remember, prevention is better than treatment later. Health truly is wealth.
I have not tried the other Primal Queen supplements besides the freeze dried beef organs. But I can definitely stand behind and support this woman-led business!
Do they do third party testing?
Yes! They test with independent companies and publish the pages of the results on their website for anyone to see, so you don’t have to go chasing anyone or getting a run around trying to see the proof. The grass-fed beef is from Argentina I believe. They increase many essential vitamins women commonly are missing from the typical western diet, especially B vitamins!
What do women report?
I have seen women say they felt better after giving birth and they felt it helped to support hormone regulation. For me, personally, I didn’t have a dramatic before and after, but I did notice that during that time of month it seemed like I had less bloating, lighter PMS irritability, and my periods seemed lighter by a long shot. I also noticed a decrease in cramps, which I never had as a teen but only after having children. That’s a win for me.
Anything else to know?
If you have the MTHFR gene mutation variation like I do, then you know that the added synthetic folic acid and non-methylated B vitamins found in everyday processed foods are not processed by our bodies like they are supposed to be sometimes. I love that because Primal Queen is a natural way to get the right nutrients my body can use. If you don’t know whether you have that gene mutation, if you have ever had a GeneSight test from a prescriber, then it might be in your paperwork like it was mine. Speaking of GeneSight, take it with a grain of salt. I think the test to my knowledge does not show false positives for MTHFR, but it’s supposed to show you a list of medications in the red, yellow, or green sections that, based on your biology, can be compared to a traffic light. If a medication is listed in the red, you may have more side effects and it’s advised to avoid it, yellow is a maybe and green says it should be ok to take according to your body’s chemistry. However, it does have to be ordered by a doctor and the company itself said not every patient improved. I didn’t and to be honest, I had medications in the red section that I was ‘supposed’ to stay away from that were perfectly fine for me, and ones in the green that gave me side effects, so I wouldn’t rely on those results too much, but that is one way of finding out if you have the MTHFR genetic mutation.
